Coal Creek Mountain Potters is located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado at 8,000 feet in altitude. Our company is owned by Steve and Ruth Briggs. Ruth Briggs makes functional and decorative pottery. She uses a white base glaze that has a semi matt finish and decorates the white surface much in the way a painter uses white canvas. Her technique is called "Sponge Ware". Often she spatters, sponges, splashes, slips, spills and brushes the colored glazes onto the white surface of her pots.

Steve Briggs also makes functional and decorative pottery. He has been a studio potter since 1971. He experiments with local clay and slips which he digs up in old clay pits along the front range of the Rocky Mountains. He teaches "local clay" and glaze classes in the Denver and Boulder area.
